Last year, Bonjour Mate ran a special competition for our community. The rule was simple: you just had to be subscribed to Bonjour Mate to be entered into the draw.

And that’s how Bronwyn won a trip to Paris.

For the prize, I organised Qantas flight vouchers as well as a stay in a beautiful 4-star hotel in the 9ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, right in the heart of the city. It’s a wonderful area to explore Paris from, surrounded by cafés, bakeries, theatres and little streets full of character.

But I also wanted the trip to feel truly special, so I organised a little surprise for Bronwyn during her stay, a night out at the legendary Moulin Rouge.

Bronwyn has just returned from her trip and kindly shared some photos from her stay with us. It looks like she had a wonderful time discovering Paris.

One of the photos she sent me even made me laugh. It showed two cars parked extremely close to each other. This is quite normal in France! But just to be clear — touching the cars on each side when parking is not acceptable in France. That might be a bit more common in some neighbouring countries like Italy, but not in France.

It always makes me smile when I hear people in Australia say there isn’t enough space to park. A French driver would probably look at the same spot and say:

« Mais si, ça passe ! »
(“Of course it fits!”)

The Giveaway Is Back This Year

Because last year was such a lovely experience, the Bonjour Mate Paris Giveaway is back this year.

If you subscribe to Bonjour Mate before 31 August, you will automatically be entered into the draw.

The winner will receive a trip to Paris ✈️🇫🇷

The draw will take place in September, and as long as your account remains active until then, you will remain in the draw.

Why I Love Doing This

Bonjour Mate has always been about more than just learning French. It’s about sharing French culture, language and little pieces of France with our community.

Being able to send one of you to Paris felt incredibly special, and I’m so happy Bronwyn had the chance to experience it.

Who knows… maybe next year I’ll be writing this blog post about your trip.
